Inizio del 1800: cosa vi viene in mente? Sicuramente il famoso taglio impero. E Jane Austen. Chi non ha mai letto un suo romanzo o non ha mai visto uno dei film con la bellissima Keira Knightley o la meravigliosa Gwyneth Paltrow? Io sono appassionata di questa scrittrice, tanto che ho fatto la mia tesi sul suo mondo fatto di abiti eleganti e buone maniere!
I vestiti di quel periodo li abbiamo in mente tutti, credo. Bianchi o, al massimo, di leggerissimi colori pastello, tremendamente leggeri nonostante le basse temperature, e lunghi fino ai piedi. La particolarità di questi abiti è che scendevano liberi sul corpo, grazie a dei bustini molto più comodi di quelli del secolo precedente.
Logicamente, le ragazze dell'epoca sentivano il freddo come noi e, quindi, avevano bisogno di cappotti in lana, di scialle o, appunto, di bolero per scaldarsi le spalle e le braccia. Se guardate nella terza immagine, la ragazza sulla destra indossa proprio un bolero, blu. Alcuni di questi erano molto simili a dei nostri coprispalle. 
Ora guardate le foto qui sotto: sono dei miei vestiti (comprati nel 2011 e non all'inizio del 1800!)..non vi sembra incredibile che dopo più di duecento anni si utilizzino gli stessi abiti?

Who has never read one of her novels or has never seen a film with the beautiful Keira Knightley or the wonderful Gwyneth Paltrow? I love Jane Austen so much that I made my dissertation about her and her world made of elegant dresses and good manners!
I think everyone knows the dresses of that time. White or, at least, made of light pastel colours, terrifically fine despite the cold, and long up to the feet. Their peculiarity is they fall on the body free from the uncomfortable bustier of the previous century.
This is sure, girls of the time were freezing as us today and so, they needed wool coats, shawls or bolero jackets to keep warm their arms and their shoulders. If you look to the third picture you can see the girl on the right wearing a blue bolero. Some of them were so similar to our wrap-arounds.
Now, look at the pics below: these are some of my clothes (bought during 2011 and not at the beginning of 1800!)..don't you think it's incredible we wear the same garments of more than two hundred years ago?
