Costume: Elsa Schiaparelli

Or Coco Chanel's Italian antagonist. Even if one designs imaginative dresses, with the most diverse patterns and with a clearly more feminine style while the other tries to make the female figure even more simple and comfortable in her elegance, both want to make their woman indipendent and free to wear what she prefers.
Elsa (or Schiap, as they used to call her in Paris) was born in Rome in 1890; she decides to move in Paris after a failed marriage and with an ill daughter. Here, she has the opportunity to meet Paul Poiret, from whom she takes inspiration for the kimono dresses.

The out-and-out inspiration seems to have got to Elsa from a knitted dress worn by an Armenian refugee. And she starts designing black jerseys with the trompe l'oeil style, as you can see in the picture above.
In 1922 she can open her boutique in Place Vendome. It's in this period that her imagination begins to satisfy her whims, thanks also to the surrealism's influence. She creates dresses with never seen shapes in the time, with enormous animals as decoration, with never seen patterns and, above all, with a definitely feminine cut that underlines a waistline hidden by clothes worn during the war.

She is called The Hatter, because she creates every shape hats.

And she is the one who gives clothes that colour they need during that time, the "shocking pink" that today we define as "schiaparelli pink".

Finally, here it is: my next book on my bedside table! :)

A pink shocked hug,
Ele.

MADRID: day 2 and 3

Here we are, the secon day. We visited Plaza de Espana, the Egyptian Temple (I really can't remember the name, sorry!), the Royal Palace and Moro's Park, Calle Mayor, that I loved with all the typical locals you can find in the lateral tiny streets and for its buildings in Parisian style (this is my opinion!), and Puerta del Sol.
The outfit you can see in the pics is what I worn in the evening..It's a dress I bought during my erasmus and that I haven't worn for a long time!

Third day :) We had a tour near our hotel, visiting Plaza Mayor, Calle de l'Alcalà and the fountain of Cibeles. Unfortunately, my boyfriend got sick during the last two days, but he was so kind and nice to let me go out despite his fever! He clearly asked me to inform you he was ill :).
The bracelet is now in my collection, I found it in a wonderful shop in the street of our hotel, Calle de l'Arenal (the shop's name is Circus!). I bought the Hard Rock glass instead of the usual bear I take home from everywhere I go, simply because they've run out of all the bears :(
Hope you like the pics!

A big hug,
Ele.

MADRID: day 1

Tornata! Sana, salva e stanca! :)

Come back! Safe, sound and tired! :)
Five wonderful days, to remember each time I'll need to smile :)
These are the pics of the first day, during which we've visited the stadium (ok, I'm not a football addict but recentely it has become one of my habits on sunday afternoon), Retiro's park and Atocha's station where there is a big artificial pool full of...turtles!! We've spent there more than one hour to see them all!
The outfit I chose is very comfy, because we had to walk all the day and I couldn't choose differently..and Mr. Ryanair doesn't help me with his 10kg bags, of course!!!
The owl is from Blanco (WOW!! Apart from virtually, I've never visited any Blanco stores, and I found it amazing!!) and it's not for my collection but it is a present for one of my best friends!

Buongiorno!!

Goodmorning!! I can't stop looking at the owl t-shirt!! It's fantastic :)
It would have been impossible to take a pic of my luggage, cause everything is fitted like in a puzzle and nothing would have been seen clearly; so, I've packed my luggage also on Polyvore (I consider it as my personal virtual wardrobe!)..But Dorothy Perkins violet tunic and the waist belts are truly in my luggage! :)
I come back on Sunday evening, so until Monday I can't post and I can't reply to your comments..so, darlings, sorry in advance :( I'll make up for it as soon as possible!

A big hug,
Ele.
